Flashback Friday (May 31st) - Savage Garden 'I Want You'

It's a B101.7 Flashback Friday! The spotlight today is on the Australian group Savage Garden and their 1997 hit, 'I Want You.'

Savage Garden was basically two guys, Darren Hayes on vocals and Daniel Jones with everything else (keyboards, guitar). They ended the group a few years back. The group with a name which would be great if you're touring with Metallica! Actually, digging up info, the name is inspired from the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Darren Hayes is a big fan.

'I Want You' was huge hit, but not their only song to make it way up the Billboard chart. Here's another memory jog, 'Truly Madly Deeply.' Yep, the mushy-gushy love song all the ladies were crazy over. It was a secret weapon for the guys. Sure, if you were hitting the road for a big night at the skating rink with that special lady and you slap that cassette in and start singing... major points! Fellas, she would be putty in your hands. Ha! I'm joking, I didn't own the cassette and definitely wouldn't serenade. Guy would you? Ladies, would you be impressed? Comments welcome below.
