It came up the other day, someone asking, who is that guy blocking stuff and what’s the deal with the finger wave? That’s former NBA player Dikembe Mutombo. He is one of the best shot blockers to play the game and is well known for waving his finger after a block. I remember him most from his years with the Atlanta Hawks between 1996 and 2001.

There is this guy who worked at Applebee’s in Northport as a bartender. This guy was anything but a Mutombo fan. I would get this Bulls fan worked up by saying Mutombo owned Michael Jordan. Now, we have this commercial! Oh, this gives me unbelievable smack talk ammunition, but the guy doesn’t work there anymore. Woozy, do you see this?!

Props go out to the insurance company advertising people for coming up with another funny commercial in the series. The same series that gave us Eddie Money running a travel agency singing ‘Two Tickets To Paradise’ to customers. Now, we have Dikembe Mutombo running around the most random places, in a basketball uniform, blocking anything airborne. Including a kid's attempt to toss a box of cereal into a shopping cart, only to have it blocked!

Let's get to the videos! Up first is the commercial. The next video features some of his most famous blocks while playing hoops. Then, you will notice the last clip features ‘Cookie Monster’ with his version of the Carly Rae Jepson song, ‘Call Me Maybe.’ I'm featuring this 'Cookie Monster' video because some say Mutombo laughs like our friendly 'Sesame Street' character. Maybe, he is the 'Cookie Monster?!'
