New Traffic Signals Are Going Up on Skyland Boulevard in Tuscaloosa
A big change is coming to T-Town-- new traffic signals are being installed along Skyland Boulevard.
The new traffic signals have been implemented to decrease accidents caused by drivers' making left-hand turns. The signals feature four different arrows; here's a quick look at what each color means:
- Solid green arrow: you can turn left; oncoming traffic must stop
- Steady yellow arrow: you can turn left, but the light is about to change
- Steady red arrow: you cannot turn left
- Flashing yellow arrow: you can turn left after yielding to oncoming traffic and pedestrians
Cities who have installed these new signals have seen up to a 25 percent reduction in accidents caused by left-hand turns.
