The Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter and Lambda Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., alongside the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, will host the 37th Annual African American Read-In.
Open to all ages and members of the community, the free event will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cordell Wynn Humanities & Fine Arts Center at Stillman College.

The African American Read-In is a nationally recognized program created by the National Council of Teachers of English to honor African American literature, literacy, and intellectual excellence.
Those interested in sharing a reading are invited to submit the title and the author or illustrator by Friday, February 14. According to the press release, “Readings are limited to two minutes and must be appropriate for children.” Click here for the sign-up link.
Each year, the event brings together children, families, educators, students, and community members to experience the joy of reading and storytelling while uplifting the voices and contributions of African American authors and illustrators.
