Urgent Need for Bus Drivers for Tuscaloosa City Schools
Over 20 school bus driver positions remain unfilled in Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS), creating what district leaders are calling an urgent need. To address the shortage, TCS is working to hire 21 drivers for the current school year as soon as possible.
“We’re doing everything we can to keep routes running safely and on time,” said Mike Daria, Superintendent of Tuscaloosa City Schools. “But we need help. These positions are essential.”

According to the press release, “the district is hosting two 'Apply On-the-Spot' Hiring Events at the TCS Transportation Department (1302 James Harrison Parkway East), on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
“We will help you through every step of the process,” said Transportation Director Tiny McCool. “If you enjoy working with children and want a job with great benefits and meaningful impact, this is the place to be.”
