How was your 4th of July weekend? Wet? How about having all that rain on a trip to the beach.

That’s where my story starts. Weeks ago, the idea of going to Panama City for the 4th sounded fantastic! In reality, it rained and rained and rained some more. It was like having an endless Tropical Storm. Oh, then as the car is being packed to leave the sun returned. C’mon man, that’s not fair.

On one of the rainy days, we had the same idea as everyone else, let’s go bowling! The wait started as an hour. But, oddly as we asked throughout that wait, it increased to 2 hours, then 3. Hmm. This building was filled wall to wall with people. Lots of screaming kids and cardboard tasting pizza. At one point, I waited in this long line for an adult beverage as the manager told the overworked bartender, ‘Joey is having trouble getting to work as the police are closing flooded roads.’ Wow! We never did get to bowl.

Here's a picture looking out of the door to this bowling center. Just an ugly day.

There was more fun in the flooded streets than on the sandy beach. The below picture is my wife on a raft going down the street. A very concerned lady did make it a point to warn us, ‘look out for water snake.’

Hey, a getaway is a getaway. We manufactured our own fun. This included an intense game of ‘Millenniumopoly.’ Talk about a random copy version of ‘Monopoly.’ Instead of ‘Boardwalk’, there was ‘Year 2000.’ Instead of ‘Go to Jail’, you would go back to the 20th century. Happy New Year replaced ‘Free Parking.’ It was an odd version to play and added to the most unusual trip to the beach.

How was your 4th of July weekend?
