Another Five Star Recruit Commits to the Tide
Five-star, class of 2022 LB Shawn Murphy announced his commitment to join the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
The 6-foot-2, 215 pound player out of Manassas, Va., announced his decision to join the Tide on Sunday afternoon, picking Alabama over multiple big programs, including: Florida, LSU, Ohio State, and Penn State.

While speaking to Adam Gorney of Rivals.com about the decision, Murphy said the dynasty of Alabama is what helped seal the deal with the Tide.
"It was the atmosphere, and the players I knew I would be surrounding myself by," said Murphy. "The history of linebackers and how to develop people in every position honestly, and I know I would be surrounding myself by the best everyday."
Murphy has been a well sought out recruit, receiving offers from 45 schools, and rightfully so. According to ESPN, Murphy ranks: No. 38 overall nationally, No. 1 in ILB nationally, and No. 2 overall in the state of Va.
Murphy joins an already stacked group of class of 2022 commits for the Crimson Tide including: Jeremiah Alexander, a five-star EDGE out of Alabaster, Ala., who committed earlier in July; and Ty Simpson, a five-star QB out of Martin, Tenn., who committed in February of 2021.
According to 247Sports, Alabama ranks No. 5 overall and No. 2 in the SEC for the class of 2022 commits.
