Investigators detained the victim's husband, Joseph Bradly Mullins, and interviewed parties on scene, including a child, who allegedly witnessed an argument between the couple and the shooting itself.

Ultimately, the VCU charged Mullins with one count of attempted murder and jailed him without bond pursuant to Aniayah's Law.
