Troopers ID Aliceville Trucker Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Demopolis
An Aliceville man was killed last week when the tractor-trailer he was driving left the highway in Marengo County, hit a tree and caught fire, Alabama State Troopers said.
Eric C. Wilder, 55, died in the wreck, which happened around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Troopers said Wilder was driving a 2018 International tractor-trailer on Alabama Highway 28 near mile marker 27 when it went off the road and the fiery crash ensued. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wilder's body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where his identity was later confirmed. The crash happened in Marengo County, about 15 miles west of Demopolis.
Aliceville, where Wilder lived, is in Pickens County.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division are still investigating, and ALEA said no further information is available.
