The two-vehicle wreck involved a 2021 Toyota RAV4 and a parked 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

King said 26-year-old Asia D. Anthony was a passenger in the Toyota, which left the roadway and struck the parked semitruck. Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene, which was near Mile Karer 98 and the exit for Lake View.

The driver of the Toyota, a 25-year-old from Mobile, was injured and transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment.

No further details were available on Tuesday as Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

Anthony's death is the fourth such tragedy that took place this weekend in Tuscaloosa County.

State Troopers are also investigating a crash that killed a juvenile outside the community of Brent on Saturday morning.

In Tuscaloosa City Limits, a University of Alabama student was killed Saturday afternoon while she was crossing Jack Warner Parkway, and another young woman died hours later in a seven-car pileup crash on I-359.
