Kentuck Sets Date for 55th Festival of the Arts in Tuscaloosa
The dates are set for West Alabama's premier arts festival to return to Tuscaloosa this fall, bringing more than 270 creators across countless media and attracting thousands of visitors.
As the Thread first reported, organizers of the renowned Kentuck Festival of the Arts entered an agreement last year to host the event annually in the city of Tuscaloosa through 2039.
The Festival had been held in Northport's Kentuck Park since its inception in 1971, but moved to Tuscaloosa in 2024 because of deteriorating relationships between Festival organizers and elected officials across the river.

After their first run at Snow Hinton Park drew 16,000 people to the Festival in 2024, the Tuscaloosa City Council enthusiastically agreed to partner with Kentuck through 2039.
In October, the event returned to the recently enhanced Snow Hinton Park for a bigger, better second year as the new partners continue to learn how to best work together.
On Thursday, Festival organizers announced the date for its 2026 iteration - the 55th Kentuck Festival of the Arts will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 17th and 18th.
That's the Third Saturday in October, and the Alabama Crimson Tide will be facing the Tennessee Volunteers in an away bout in Knoxville, so Festival traffic won't be exacerbated by football traffic.
"For 55 years, The Kentuck Festival of the Arts has been shaped by artists, volunteers, and supporters who believe in the power that creativity has to bring people together," said Exa Skinner, executive director of Kentuck Art Center and Festival. "Each year builds on that legacy, and we look forward to welcoming artists and guests for another unforgettable festival."
Applications for exhibiting artists don't open until March, but will then be accepted until June. Until then, save the date for this special October event and stay connected with the Tuscaloosa Thread for more free local news coverage.
