It's that time of year again! Residents all over West Alabama are preparing to celebrate the 4th of July.

I can already smell he grills firing up, I can seen the children playing and the pets running around the yard.

Most of all, I CAN HEAR THE FIREWORKS! Literally.

It's just days before the 4th of July and my neighborhood is already 3 days into lighting fireworks at all times of the day. I'm talking breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Why do you even want to light fireworks during the daytime when you can't see them?

Honestly, at a time where I'm supposed to be gearing up for a great holiday with family and friends, I'm irritated at why people are letting off fireworks so early and so often. I know I'm going to sound like the old guy complaining here but, aren't they not even allowed in Tuscaloosa?!

I hope this year my neighborhood doesn't continue with the 4th celebrations through labor day and the new year as they've done in the past. I don't think I can take too much more of the random fireworks explosions in the middle of the day. For sure not at night.

As I step off my soapbox, I truly hope all residents in West Alabama are being safe this holiday season, and responsible because fireworks can cause serious injuries.

Enjoy your holiday and don't forget to swing by the Celebration On The River this 4th of July at the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater.
