Now, it could be very relevant to parents and guardians in the state of Alabama. House Bill 103 says that parents or legal guardians could be found guilty of a Class A Misdemeanor and spend up to a year in jail if their child brings a firearm to school.

We've heard from several school officials who think it is an idea that should have been turned into law years ago. The bill does include some room for circumstances that could greatly impact the enforcement of the law. One example is the firearm being inside a motor vehicle on school property. That exception would have more to do with the type of weapon and why it is on school property.
