Diamonds in Denim Fundraiser Aims to Boost Alabama’s Maternal Health
An exciting night is coming up as Diamonds for Doulas hosts “Diamonds in Denim” on Thursday, December 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Hilton Garden Inn, 800 Hollywood Boulevard, Tuscaloosa, 35404.
This fundraiser focused on improving maternal health outcomes and widening access to community-based doula support throughout West and Central Alabama.
“This fundraiser helps ensure that every family, regardless of income, has access to trained doulas who provide advocacy, education, emotional support, and hands-on care,” said Jamilah Channel, Chief of Operations for Birth Doula Support, Diamonds for Doulas.
According to the press release, proceeds from the “Diamonds in Denim” event will fuel multiple initiatives.
- Free and low-cost doula support for underserved families
- Childbirth and reproductive health education programs
- Advocacy initiatives addressing maternal health disparities
- Training and development for community-based doulas

Crystina Hughes, Founder and Executive Director, Diamonds for Doulas, said the “goal is to remove barriers to maternal care, especially for families who too often feel unheard or unsupported during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.”
“Diamonds in Denim” will unite community leaders, advocates, families, and supporters for a night of purpose. Guests are invited to show off their best denim and sparkle as they celebrate the impact of compassionate maternal support and help raise vital funds for families across the region.
“A healthy community starts with healthy mothers, and healthy mothers start with support,” said Franeisha Coleman, Chief of Operations for Postpartum Support, Diamonds for Doulas. “Together, we can make sure every birth is safe, supported, and celebrated.”
