Free Gym Access for Tuscaloosa Teens This Summer
Mental health is a major concern not just in Alabama but in the United States as a whole. People often tend to forget how impactful mental health is on teens while they're growing up.
The statistics on mental health in Alabama may not look like what you think they do. According to Nami, Alabama is currently facing a mental health crisis. The number of teens in Alabama is even more alarming.
According to Nami, 1 in 6 adolescents aged 12-17 experience a major depressive episode in Alabama each year.
Experts suggest that exercise helps with mental health. When teens are out of school, parents experience higher bills for things like groceries and summer activities. There's no extra funds for a gym membership. Luckily, parents in Tuscaloosa have a way for their teens to work out at a quality gym this summer, and it's completely free.
Teens in Tuscaloosa can work out for free at Planet Fitness with their High School Summer Pass. The pass is valid for ages 14-19, and teens must visit PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass to register for the program before gaining club access.

"Many teens continue to be impacted by the long-term mental health impacts from the pandemic, yet studies show that exercise can have a significant, positive impact on teens' overall wellness," said Craig Benson, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Planet Fitness, according to a press release from Planet Fitness.
"We look forward to welcoming High School Summer Pass participants into our clubs to support them in their health and wellness journeys."
The high school summer pass is only available until August 31st.
This is a sure way to help teens in Tuscaloosa stay active this summer and keep the expenses down for parents.
