City Election Results to be Canvassed
Tuscaloosa Municipal Election vote total will become official tomorrow. The Tuscaloosa City Council will reconvene its February 25th meeting tomorrow to canvas the results from the March 4th Municipal Election. All but one race was decided on Election Day. District 1 incumbent Matthew Wilson will face Shelton State Community College Dean of Community Relations Joe Eatmon in a runoff on Tuesday, April 1st.
Tomorrow's noon meeting will canvas the general election votes and provisional ballots. It will also certify the results of the municipal election for Mayor and members of the City Council and Chair and members of the Board of Education for the City of Tuscaloosa.
During tomorrow's meeting, sealed envelopes containing the polling results from each polling place in the city on Election Day will be opened by the Municipal Clerk. The vote totals for each race in each precinct will be examined and the candidate with the majority of votes will be declared as the valid winner. Once that has been completed a "Certificate of Election" will be presented to the winning candidate by the Municipal Clerk.
