Weekend Outlook – Friday through Sunday

Timing

The National Weather Service in Birmingham provides a general overview of the timing from Friday at 9 p.m. through Sunday at 7 a.m.

The timing will be much clearer as we get closer to the actual threat. For now, I encourage you to stay informed. Information will be updated as the weather system develops.

Threats

James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “All modes of severe weather will be possible with the heavier storms, including large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes. A strong tornado will be possible (EF-2 or higher by definition).”

How to Prepare

I strongly encourage each Alabamian to know what county and section of the county they live in. Also, be aware of the counties surrounding you so you can have an idea of what could be headed your way.

Make sure you’re ready to move to your safe place. Talk with family, friends, and coworkers to identify the best spot. While tornado warnings have become more precise, planning ahead can save precious seconds when it matters most.

Check back often for updates as severe weather develops in the coming days.
