Tuscaloosa County has found its new headman, naming Brian Niedermeyer as the school's 26th head football coach, TCHS announced Tuesday evening.

Tuscaloosa News' Anna Snyder also broke the story.

Niedemeyer served as the school's defensive coordinator the past season under former head coach Miles Holcomb. Holcomb left the program in November.

Niedemeyer has his work cut out for him, taking over a program coming off a 1-9 season in one of the most challenging regions in the state.

Niedemeyer previously coached as a tight end and linebackers coach at the University of Tennessee under Jeremy Pruitt's staff. When the NCAA sanctioned the program in 2020 for recruiting violations, Niedemeyer was fired along with Pruitt.

Following his time with the Volunteers, Niedemeyer coached for two notable Florida high school football programs, St. Thomas Aquinas and IMG Academy. Niedemeyer served primarily as a defensive assistant.
