Tennessee’s Keenan Pili Will Miss the Remainder of the Season
A significant setback has encountered the Volunteers, as it has been reported that seventh-year starting middle linebacker Keenan Pili will miss the remainder of the year due to a knee injury. The injury occurred on Oct. 12 during a hard-fought victory against the Florida Gators, leaving the team and Vol community heartbroken from the loss of a veteran presence on the field.

Pili has been a huge cornerstone of the Vols defense since transferring from BYU. His leadership, experience, and on-field instincts have made him not only a standout player but also a mentor to younger athletes in the program. His absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the defensive lineup as the team looks to navigate the remainder of the season.
Pili’s injury is particularly disheartening considering the expectations surrounding the Volunteers this year. The team has had some adversity, but for the most part, they have been enjoying a promising season, and Pili was seen as a key component in their pursuit of a successful campaign. Pili will finish his season with a record of 29 total tackles, 11 solos and 18 assists.
In wake of Pili’s injury, a possible replacement is sophomore Jeremiah Telander based on the Volunteers opening week depth chart. Telander, a talented and promising player, will have the monumental task of filling the shoes of a seasoned veteran. While he may lack Pili’s years of experience, Telander has shown signs of capability during his time on the field and has the potential to rise to the occasion.
Coming off of a true freshman season as the leading freshman tackler on the squad, Telander is known as a physical linebacker with a nose for the ball. He has seen prominent action in 2024, with his first start being in the overtime matchup against the Gators. Telander currently has a record of 18 total tackles, 6 solos, 12 assists, and one pass deflection.
At the moment, Pili’s official replacement has not been announced. Stay tuned to Tide 100.9 for the latest updates and breaking news on this developing story.
