Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same. In this instance, destiny is another matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game. The 2025 matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs was solidified during rivalry weekend, when Texas defeated Texas A&M on Black Friday, punching Georgia's ticket to the game, and Alabama defeated Auburn in the Iron Bowl, punching the Crimson Tide's ticket.

Since the start of the 2020 season, it is the sixth meeting between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs, with Alabama being an underdog in the six most recent matchups, including the one scheduled for this Saturday. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Georgia has opened as a 1.5-point favorite over Alabama in the neutral site matchup in Atlanta, Georgia.

Next Saturday's SEC Championship marks the fourth meeting between Alabama and Georgia in the SEC Championship game since Kirby Smart took over as Georgia's head coach in 2016. It's the sixth meeting between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs with a championship on the line (Alabama and Georgia played for the CFP National Championship following the 2017 and 2021 seasons). The last time Alabama was favored over Georgia was the 2020 matchup during the regular season, where Mac Jones led the Crimson Tide to a 41-20 victory in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Since then, Alabama has amassed a 4-1 record against the Bulldogs, with the only loss coming in a 33-18 defeat in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship (played during the 2021 season).

It will be another instant classic between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs in Atlanta next Saturday, December 6. Alabama defeated Georgia earlier this season, 24-21, in Athens, Georgia.
