One of the University of Alabama's all-time greats and Tuscaloosa native Herb Jones received a massive honor from his high school alma mater, Hale County, getting his No. 2 jersey retired by the Wildcats.

After a three-game road trip, Jones' New Orleans teammates, including Dejounte Murray, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson, joined him at Hale County.

Jones led the Wildcats to a 4A state title in 2017, being named the 4A State Player of the Year and the 4A All-State first-team that same year.

Jones averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in his senior season for the Wildcats.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats also spoke during the ceremony.

Jones played under Oats for the latter half of his collegiate career, winning an SEC double-crown and a Sweet Sixteen appearance in his senior season. Jones was also the SEC Player of the Year and a third-team All-American in 2021.

Jones has been sidelined for the past month after suffering a right shoulder strain against the Golden State Warriors on October 29.
