TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — In the midst of one of the best 30-game starts in program history, a significant reason for Alabama's success is sophomore shortstop Justin Lebron.

Since stepping on campus, the Miramar, Fla., native, has been sensational, batting .351 over 90 games, starting in all, while driving in 93 RBIs and 25 home runs.

Through 30 games this season, Lebron is batting .342 over 120 at-bats, nine doubles, 13 home runs, and a nation-leading 52 RBIs — earning the shortstop a second team midseason All-American bid from D1Baseball and a first team nod via Perfect Game.

Lebron's stellar sophomore campaign thus far has earned him a spot on the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watchlist — an award that honors the top amateur player, college or high school, in the country. Lebron is one of 45 players to be named to the list.

Lebron was also on the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watchlist.

Dave Magadan is the Crimson Tide's lone winner, taking it home following his historic 1983 season. Former Alabama third baseman Gage Miller was on the midseason watch list last season.

Lebron is one of 14 SEC players to make the watchlist, joining:

  • Wehiwa Aloy (Arkansas)
  • Kade Anderson (LSU)
  • Liam Doyle (Tennessee)
  • Hunter Elliot (Ole Miss)
  • Jay Jones (LSU)
  • Gavin Kilen (Tennessee)
  • Jace LaViolette (Texas A&M)
  • Liam Peterson (Florida)
  • Ethan Petry (South Carolina)
  • Marcus Phillips (Tennessee)
  • Ryan Prager (Texas A&M)
  • Kyson Witherspoon (Oklahoma)
  • Ryland Zaborowski (Georgia)

The winner will be announced in late June as the amateur baseball seasons come to a close.

Justin Lebron will look to continue his dominant 2025 campaign in Auburn, Ala., as the Crimson Tide travel to the eastern side of the state for a rivalry weekend matchup against Auburn.
