First Quarter: Texas A&M 14, Alabama 12

Alabama won the opening tip but struggled to find rhythm early as both teams exchanged empty possessions to start the game. Texas A&M capitalized inside with Lauren Ware scoring twice in the paint, while Ny’Ceara Pryor sparked transition opportunities for the Aggies. Alabama answered with aggressive drives from Jessica Timmons and Ta’Mia Scott, while Essence Cody finished through traffic for an early bucket. Despite backcourt pressure forcing a late turnover and a transition layup by Ace Austin, Alabama trailed 14–12 at the end of the quarter after missed opportunities near the rim.

Second Quarter: Texas A&M 34, Alabama 29

The Aggies began to find momentum in the second quarter as Pryor facilitated the offense and Ware continued to produce in the paint. Alabama stayed within striking distance behind ball movement and strong cutting action, highlighted by Diana Collins finding Essence Cody and Ta’Mia Scott for key baskets. Scott knocked down two triples to keep the Tide close, but Texas A&M answered with transition scoring and second-chance points. A late three from Lemyah Hylton and an and-one opportunity off an offensive rebound allowed the Aggies to carry a five-point advantage into halftime.

Third Quarter: Alabama 54, Texas A&M 53

Alabama came out of the locker room with renewed energy, opening the half with improved spacing and defensive pressure. Ta’Mia Scott knocked down a corner three off a drive-and-kick, while Jessica Timmons added points attacking the lane and converting at the free-throw line. The Tide briefly took the lead as Karly Weathers and Ace Austin created open looks through pick-and-roll action. Texas A&M stayed close behind Pryor’s shot-making and Ware’s presence inside, but a late three from Scott gave Alabama a slim 54-53 edge heading into the final period.

Fourth Quarter: Texas A&M 72, Alabama 69

The fourth quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle as both teams traded crucial baskets and defensive stops. Jessica Timmons opened the frame with an and-one, while Alabama’s defense produced a key chase-down block from Scott in transition. Texas A&M responded behind Pryor’s ability to create her own shot and Ware’s offensive rebounding, including late free throws that proved critical. Despite clutch plays from Timmons and Naomi Jones down the stretch, Alabama’s final chance to tie was denied as Diana Collins’ three-point attempt at the buzzer was blocked, sealing the Aggies’ 72-69 win.

Head Coach Kristy Curry pointed to breakdowns on the glass and at the free-throw line as the key factors in the Crimson Tide’s loss to Texas A&M.

I think when you give up 17 offensive rebounds that's not a very good recipe for success and when you put someone at the free throw line 31 times that's also not a very good recipe for success. We always want to make more than our opponents shoot and we did a poor job of that today. So, credit Texas A&M, I just have no words. We had an experience like this a couple weeks ago and felt like we had talked and done things differently with our travel plan to get their attention on a quick turnaround from Thursday. At some point, players have to understand and have self-awareness.

SEC Slate (Sunday):

LSU rolled past Auburn 77-44, bouncing back from a midweek loss with a dominant performance on both ends of the floor. ZaKiyah Johnson led the Tigers with 16 points, and LSU’s defense stifled Auburn, holding them to 25% shooting to secure the blowout victory in SEC play.

Georgia defeated Missouri 85-66 behind balanced scoring and consistent offense throughout the game. The Lady Bulldogs built and maintained a double-digit lead, closing out the Tigers in conference action.

Florida edged Arkansas 75-69 in Gainesville, led by a big all-around performance from Liv McGill, who finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. The Gators never trailed and held off a late Razorbacks push to earn the SEC win.

South Carolina dominated at home against Tennessee behind a balanced offensive attack. The Gamecocks built a big lead early and never looked back, cruising to a convincing 93-50 triumph to stay atop the SEC standings.
