Samuelu Utu chose the Crimson Tide over the Washington Huskies, the Tennessee Volunteers, the SMU Mustangs, and the Texas Longhorns.

Utu is ranked as the No. 211 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to On3 Sports and the No. 14 interior offensive lineman. A native of Orange, California, Utu is a mauler along the offensive line, standing at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds.

Utu took an official visit to the Crimson Tide over the weekend and was the only offensive lineman on campus during the visit. His primary recruiter was his future position coach at Alabama, offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.

The Crimson Tide entered his recruitment early, offering Utu in April 2024. However, his official visit to the Capstone last weekend was just the second time he had been to campus.

Utu spoke highly about Alabama's strength and conditioning program after his visit, telling Andrew Bone of On3 Sports, "When it comes to strength and conditioning, it's [Alabama] second to none."

Utu also told Brett Greenberg of 247 Sports that his recruitment is "officially shut down."

According to the 247 Sports class calculator, Utu's commitment now gives Alabama the No. 45 recruiting class in the 2026 class with just six commitments. Utu is the first player to commit to the Crimson Tide during this year's official visit season.
